In Dimensional Drift, Brazilian-born artist Gus Azevedo translates the experience of migration into abstraction. Having moved from São Paulo to the United States, Azevedo has lived in a continual state of passage—carrying memory, longing, and reinvention across borders. His paintings are not narratives in the traditional sense; they are atmospheres where colors swell and fade like tides, forms dissolve and reassemble, and the boundaries between here and there blur.Azevedo’s practice reflects migration as more than departure or arrival. It is a creative act: a process of remaking the self while holding the contradictions of belonging and estrangement. The canvases hum with the ache of separation alongside the exhilaration of discovery, evoking the suspended space between intimacy and distance. In Dimensional Drift, abstraction becomes both language and refuge. Each work is a portal—an invitation for viewers to enter a field where memory and dislocation converge, where distance is never fixed, and where new constellations of identity and place continually emerge.
